March 6: Favorite Book Quotes – is probably one of the best Tuesday prompts I’ve yet to encounter in TTT. It is also both a curse and a blessing. I have countless quotes that I love and it’s torture to choose just a few, but I am all for sharing these words that touched me in one way or another.
“That computer is my rabbit hole; the internet is my wonderland. I am only allowed to fall into it when it doesn’t matter if I get lost.”
― Francesca Zappia, Eliza and Her Monsters
I have already talked about this once when I participated in the 3 days, 3 quotes tag but I’ll say this again here. It is a fitting quote for those us who spend most of our days here in the blogging-verse being mad about books and all things wonderful. We’re, in a way, all Alice or rather—Eliza.
“If I had my way, I wouldn’t look like anything at all. I would be a free-floating consciousness that can also somehow draw. I don’t care how I look. I don’t want to care.”
― Francesca Zappia, Eliza and Her Monsters
Imagine not being judged for the color of your skin or the structure of your face or even the tiny details that others find so distasteful. Imagine being free from those physical manifestations of beauty and just be. Just like Eliza (minus the drawing part), I wouldn’t mind being a free-floating consciousness that can somehow read
“There are different kinds of darkness,” Rhys said. I kept my eyes shut. “There is the darkness that frightens, the darkness that soothes, the darkness that is restful.” I pictured each. “There is the darkness of lovers, and the darkness of assassins. It becomes what the bearer wishes it to be, needs it to be. It is not wholly bad or good.”
― Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury
It is my comfortable place and my cocoon. It is my friend and ally when sleep escapes me. And I so loved the dark.
“It’s not the face, but the expressions on it. It’s not the voice, but what you say. It’s not how you look in that body, but the thing you do with it. You are beautiful.”
― Stephenie Meyer, The Host
I’m not saying everyone should read The Host, but I am saying that you should read this quote. It’s just simply beautiful.
“Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.”
― Mitch Albom, The Time Keeper
For every precious seconds and minutes that we count, we lose the sense of enjoyment in that moment because of it. We must learn to live beyond the clock and do what time does: just keep moving.
“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
― Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
There came a realization with this quote the second time I read this. You cannot accept love from others unless you accept the love from yourself. Love yourself first, and only then you will learn that you deserve more.
“It’s strange because sometimes, I read a book, and I think I am the people in the book.”
― Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Always.
“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”
― Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel
Simply put, one of my favorite quotes out there. From a character I so dearly loved and admired.
HARRY POTTER
So many of the words I cherish now came from these books that are supposedly for kids or labeled as a book of fantasy and magic. Lessons that I may not have known if not for these books—because sometimes fiction is a better teacher than reality. I learned about friendship and adventure when I had no one but books and I was stuck in my room with nowhere to go. How I wished for my Hogwarts letter then.
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban“Youth cannot know how age thinks and feels. But old men are guilty if they forget what it was to be young.”
― J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix“There are all kinds of courage. It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”
– J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone“Of course it is happening inside your head, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
― J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the the Deathly Hallows
You see all these words and think that they’re just from the world of books and fiction, but it doesn’t mean they’re any less real (see the last quote). Because they inspire something real and connects to our emotions, they’re as real as they can be even if only through us.
That’s it for this Tuesday Party! What’s on your list? Feel free to share them in the comments below.
Top Ten Tuesday was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and it was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was said to be born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Happy reading everyone!
Wonderful quotes…I just…can’t…
I paused to think about most of them. This is great~

We could be reading the same words but they could mean differently to each of us and that’s one of the beauty of it ^^

Brilliant quotes! I’m ashamed to say I haven’t read most of those books (other than ACOTAR and Harry Potter) but I’m working on it, I promise!
Also, wow. I had to do a double take on that POBAW quote- the one about love… It’s so true and yet I can’t imagine how many people just breezed over it…
Great post!

This is so true, it’s scary.
And it’s always not sometimes for me too Chi-san!

I know! But it makes the story so much more fun unless of course the story is not a happy ending..

Nice list! I love that quote from The Perks of Being A Wallflower. That quote is so apt for we humans. We only want the things which we think are for us!
