Welcome to the Brotherhood!

Isn’t the name of the award such a cool one? I know! It’s my first time hearing about it too!

“The Brotherhood of the World Award”

It feels like I have been invited to a party and cool people were there and it’s time to gather up the courage and talk to them!

Birdie @ Birdie Bookworm blog have introduced me to some pretty cool things after I started blogging again. She and Angie were the first book bloggers I engaged with regarding book reviews. It was last year when they were planning to read the book Caraval by Stephanie Garber and were planning to do a discussion post about it. So I took the chance to read it too and talk about it with them in the comments. And it was so much fun! Hope to do it again soon if you don’t mind me gatecrashing your party.

Thank you Birdie for inviting me to do this cool award tag and essentially inducting me into the Brotherhood. Rest assured I will offer up sacrif- …erm.. I mean invite other bloggers into this too!

Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the questions sent to you.
  • Nominate around ten bloggers.
  • Create your set of questions for your nominees. (It seems the same questions are going around, so I’m going following the trend. – said Birdie. And I’m going to do the same.)
  • List the rules and display the Brotherhood of the World logo in your post.brotherhood-of-the-world

Briefly explain your blogging style (where your favorite blogging spot/tools – as in, on the couch using your smartphone or something).

What blogging style? O_O

As of now I’m still looking around for it (it has hidden itself quite well, and I hate hide and seek when I’m ‘it’) and trying out different things but I hope to find it soon. Or maybe I already found it years ago but lost my grasp on it. I’m sort of in the experimenting stage again and finding what works best for me. So if you’re looking for my advice on blogging style I can only say – I’m sorry let’s look for it together…

I would also like to share this post by Lita about one’s blogging style and how it should sound like YOU and not what you think you should sound like. It’s a really insightful post that made me think about my blogging style and this award tag just came at the right time for me to share it.

I usually blog using my laptop and edit in my tablet or phone. And I actually wrote this post listening to Day6‘s album Moonrise. I’m not usually one to listen to music while writing (like essays and school stuff before) because it distracts me, but for some reason korean songs tend to help me move along writing blog posts.

How do you manage your blogging time including blog reading time?

I think my blogging time suffers because I have no consistency when it comes to my reading time. And I only have two types of mood when reading: the ‘read-all-the-books-you-can’ and the ‘I-hope-this-is-not-a-reading-slump’.

That said, I don’t always post reviews right away after I finish a book. And I have only just started my book blog late last year so I am still ‘managing’ my time around.

By this time you guys have probably figured out that I’m a slow starter and an even slow blog writer… Can’t say the same for my reading though. I usually devour a book in one sitting and often forget the time but now I’m too busy! Ah, the good times..

Who is your most read author?

Sarah J. Maas and Cassandra Clare, probably. Especially with my rereads (does it count?). But basing it on Goodreads’ tally, the results won’t be the same because a huge chunk of it will be Manga with several volumes and Goodreads considers it as different books by the same author.

How did you come up with your blog name?

Chizurueofmidnightravings.wordpress.com

I have no naming sense whatsoever regarding my main site so I stuck to my profile name for the site title. I have contemplated to change it ever since but settled to my name… for now. After all the blog is about me. My interests, my thoughts and random posts. The site address is inspired by the night owl in me since I mostly write during midnight hours.

What keeps you blogging?

A bit from my About Me page:

I basically hoard books, music, anime, tv series, and films. It’s unintentional. But it’s like being an impulsive buyer: you see something you like, you buy it, and then afterwards it’s stacked away somewhere you will probably forget about.

That’s me.

Partly, that’s the reason I’m blogging these days. To basically force me to go through my stuff and post about it. But mostly it’s about what I love  …

At first it was because I wanted an outlet for the things that I love and what interests me. But these days I find myself thinking about bloggers who inspire me, and that I wanted to be like them (notice me senpai ~) and settle into my blogging style. Also, connecting with others who share the same interests is another reason I’m still lurking around wordpress.

  1. Thanks for nominating me! It does sound kind of cool in a weird cult kind of way…so I feel honored! LOL! (Will Herondale is BAEEEE).

  2. Okay….first off congratulations for this award! It really astounds me how many different kinds of awards there are on WordPress, as this is another one that I have never heard of.
Secondly…embarassingly too…I’m not yet following your blog 🙈🙈 I’m so sorry. I just said it over in another blog, I’m beginning to reach my limit on the amounts of blogs that I follow. (I currently spent about 2-3 hours reading posts, and replying to comments every day, which I love to do, but there also has to be some time left to watch/read things in order for me to write posts about lol). I don’t want to just follow people but I really want to spent my time reading their posts as well..as obviously everyone puts work into them. And just liking posts for the sale of liking..that’s not me. But…that said…you have shown a lot of support to me ..and I like what I am seeing on this blog…so ..bammmm: you have a new follower 😊😊
And thanks so much for your kindness in nominating me. Really appreciate it 😊😊

    1. No need to apologize at all! I started following your blog not only because of your posts but also because I admire how you always have something good to say about others, and your friendship with other bloggers too ^^ I mean the blogging community is a pretty great place to be with people like you.
Haha didn’t expect that follow at all but thank you so much!

      1. That is really sweet of you to say. Thanks so much (seriously I said it last week, there seems to be some kind of campaign going on where everyone seemingly wants to make me blush 😂😂). Seriously though thanks.
Yeah it’s not even that I don’t want to follow certain blogs..but I just can’t follow everyone. There are only so many hours in a day, so as I said I am reaching a limit on the amount of blogs that I follow.
But…there are always exceptions, and your are one of them 😊😊 And really no need to thank me, your blog looks seriously cool, so looking forward to reading your upcoming posts 😊

          1. Haha…well trust me, all of you have managed to make me blush more times than I can count now. And I am not even kidding about that either 😊😊
You are very welcome, and thank YOU again 😊😊

  3. Thank you so much for the tag! The questions are really lovely, I’ll love answering them! And hey, do you stan K-Pop as well? Moonrise is a whole bop, I love Day6 so? much? Also is that Otabek that I spy in that final picture because we SO needed season two like, a year ago? Love your answers! I relate to a lot of them ❤
Great post! I'm looking forward to answering these!

    1. Yes yes!! Multi-fandom baby here and I just recently discovered DAY6 because I was watching Stray Kids and Brian was there for a moment fanboying over Bang Chan 😀
So true. And I need to see the Otayurio ship more!
Will be looking forward to your answers! ^^

      1. I found DAY6 when I was scrolling through my YouTube feed and a playlist of soft DAY6 songs popped up- I’m weak whenever I hear about softness tbh.
Stray Kids is!!! another bop I’m really thankful that so many debuted!
Otayurio will single handedly save 2018 if given the chance! Kubo-sensei needs to get her shit together and deliver season two cause we’re dying here (but also sensei please take care of yourself okay).

        1. Hellevator is one hell of a high song for a boy group and I love it! And JYP did right by DAY6 when they debuted as a band. I think I saw them on WIN before too.

Hahaha patience is a virtue, Andrea. But I agree.

  4. I understand how crazy it is to manage time… With reading, writing AND reading the blogs of others.. It’s a lot of work! Lol! I’m in the same boat where I’m only a couple of months in and still learning to manage my time and be consistent!

      1. Thank you! It was number one on the most popular female name for a while and yup, it means wise. 😊
I was originally going to say Chizurue sounds really sensual and exotic but I felt strange using the word sensual! 😳

  5. I think if you just generally follow the books in the Shadowhunter world, you are bound to have a loooot of Cassandra Clare on your shelf haha not that I am complaining! She has like her own section on mine as well.
