Being seen can also be the first step to being RECOGNIZED!

Have you ever had that moment when you are updating your blog and you realize that every time you put out posts it is just another variation of a single request: “Would someone please acknowledge me?”

Most of the time you won’t even realize it yourself but what is blogging really but another form of social media to express our own thoughts and feelings in the hopes that someone will be able to hear you, see you and want to talk to you.

But what is wrong with that?

You can be someone who wants to be acknowledged because you seek to improve yourself, or maybe you want to vanish that feeling of being alone so you go out of your way to seek validation from others. How vast is the internet for you to get lost in only to find yourself among a community, who coincidentally blogs about the same interests, who welcomes you – typos, flaws and all.

“Recognizing isn’t at all like seeing; the two often don’t even agree.”
― Sten Nadolny

And even though it may not always be the same, being seen can also be the first step to being recognized. Maybe they’ve just seen my name among their followers or in the comments but they saw little Chizu and decided to include my name in their nominations. And I am really grateful to be ‘recognized’ by these lovely people:

The Moyatorium who probably already forgot about this due to my tardiness to reply but nominated me just at the start of the year and what a way to kick off 2018! She advises us to use thesaurus.com by the way and to always say “yes” when you’re wondering yes or no.

Arthifis, the Arty-sis to my Chizu-bro. It’s a kind of a funny story actually because he mistook me for a ‘he‘ and that’s where it began. He has always been so kind and helpful especially towards me who knows nothing about designs and all that. A wonderful human being who shares more than what is expected of him. Thank you Arty-sis! Hope your place is always there to crash into especially for us wandering souls.

Brittney is someone I have to apologize to. I would like to sincerely apologize for being so late on replying to your Ze Liebster Award post. Rest assured I had it bookmarked and I will be answering them soon.
Also, I am quite similar to her because I am not a regular one to post either, I post when I feel passionate about something and it’s also the same for her. Her words: “I feel that if I write when I feel the most passionate about it, it comes through my words. “

Ancient History

Once upon a time, there was freshman at college who wanted a reprieve from her stressful daily life and decided to start her blog. She was even unsure if she would keep it as a personal one or an anonymous blog. But she decided she wanted to keep her private life separate and retain anonymity. So she chose the name ‘Chizurue‘, and at that time she already loved watching all things anime and was also invested in the K-pop world. Of course being a bookworm was also one of her identities but she never blogged about books then. Her blog lasted for a year. She decided to delete her posts because she felt that she was becoming a bit of a loner and felt that no one really heard her voice. She left to focus on her studies then and thought to leave wordpress for good.

Chizurue was feeling a sense of deja vu during her last year in college (2017), of wanting an outlet like the one years ago, so she decided to take this opportunity to go back. Fortunately for her she still remembered her account and password. She was a bit cool that way.

She made a new blog and started all over again from scratch. Actually she has two blogs now, one for her books and this one where you are probably reading this.

(I think Chizu would like to talk in the first person now…)

Oh lookie here’s proof  (as of January 9, 2018)

And that’s the short but insightful history of my humble blog. I started testing the waters again last September and now here I am!

I also wanted take this chance to express my heartfelt gratitude to you, yes beautiful stranger you too, who might be reading this. Just knowing that someone would want to read what I write (rave and ramble about) and talk about it with me is a rewarding experience in itself. And also being surrounded by bloggers who not only care for your posts but also your well being is another level of awesomeness that surpassed my initial expectations.

Advices… huh.

Don’t Take My Word For It …

Be yourself. Flaws and all, readers and fellow bloggers alike would want something real and authentic.

“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.”
― George R.R. MartinA Game of Thrones

Never be bullied or intimidated into silence. If you have an opinion, this is the platform to share it. There would always be an opposing opinion but you can have different views and still respect each other.

Engage with other bloggers. Everyone has their own way of expressing support and feelings towards another but each of us definitely have something to say. I know it may be hard to find the right words to say, the right mood to make or even just the courage to type and hit send, but finding your way through those is already half the battle.

Again, thank you to Moyatori, Arthifis, and Brittney! Stay awesome!

Now it’s your turn!

P.S. It’s your choice if you want to accept the nomination. And if you decided to do it, you can take your time. ^_^

  1. Congrats on getting all those awards! That’s incredible.

I wholeheartedly agree with not being bullied into silence. That’s happened to me in real life before especially when I was younger. Making my spoken word projects and doing reviews on my separate blogs has really helped me be more assertive with people.

    1. Thank you! But I think it’s due to my tardiness to reply so it piled up and others thought I hadn’t been nominated before so yeah 😀

I usually get intimidated when people disagree with me in real life arguments and I am still working on that too. But it’s true, blogging really helps!

      1. You’re welcome. Don’t feel bad about it. Better late than never, right?

I’ve felt that way sometimes or I don’t have any snappy comebacks most of the time. To be honest with you, I was nervous about posting some reviews such as Hate Crimes in the Heartland, Kimba the White Lion, and even Your Name with my opinions on those things on Iridium Eye. Interestingly enough, those reviews were the most viewed documentary (Hate Crimes), most viewed anime post so far (Kimba), and my most liked and commented review (Your Name) respectively. It’s certainly helped me to stand my ground and I hope you feel the same way with your posts. Blogging has been cathartic.

        1. Yes!
I have yet to read them but I think the stats speak for themselves! ^^
I’m still acclimating to blogging again really, I’m a slow starter and an even slow writer so it’ll be a while. Thank you! Hope it continues to be one.

          1. No problem.

That’s fine. They aren’t huge stats, but they are noticeable bigger than other ones. I just used those as examples since the first two reviews I mentioned to you involve a brutal historical event not in American history books and the latter has been a go-to reference for a famous controversy. I expected to get a ton of hate, but that hasn’t happened yet. I did my research for both and I want to know what I’m talking about. Feel free to check those aforementioned reviews whenever you can. No pressure.

That’s fine, Chizurue. You’ll do great.

  2. Such a great way to start an award post! It was really original I didn’t even felt that I was reading a reward post until you started thanking people (myself included) xD It’s good to see that there are so many awesome people recognizing your awesomeness, you deserve it all! 😀 Congrats Chizu-bro ^.^

  3. Omg thank you so much for nominating me! This is the first time I’ve been nominated by someone I didn’t know outside of my blog, so it’s really special! I’ll definitely do the challenge! Thank you again, Rue-unni!!! 😊😊😊💜💜💜

    1. Thank you 🙂 It’s my first time doing it without the question type awards so I figured why not make it more..

Well I didn’t blog for four years though… And then I deleted my old site haha ><

  4. It is clearly award season….Congratualtions – 5 years!!! I get that there was a break in there but still. That’s very impressive. This is a wonderful post – possibly my favorite of the tags going around right now!

    1. Nahh was mostly idle that time. 2013 was the only time I was active and not a peep for almost 4 years. Then I deleted my old blog site and made 2 new ones.
This tag is much more challenging to reply to than the others!

  5. Wow, thank you very much! This is my first award since I started blogging a month ago. I will surely write response, but I don’t exactly know how to haha. I hope you can help me out regarding that part. I figure I just have to share my thoughts based on the “rules”, right?

    1. Woah. Really? Nice!
Oh sure ask away if you need help 🙂
These kind of posts are not necessarily so serious so you can do it anyway you want. Just copy the rules and follow some of them hahaha but not always such in the case of number of blogs to be nominated

    1. Please don’t hahaha. The age of my account does not necessarily equate to my blogging experience so I’m still a noob in a way especially regarding anime ^^ New blog new start.

I don’t know if that’s good or a bad thing. But thanks!

  6. Such a terrific post! I read every word and I am happy you decided to return to this platform to express your feelings and have that courage to put yourself out there. I am so happy your blog exists and I look forward to more wonderful posts! Thank you for such a lovely read ❤

  7. Thank you so much for the nomination! I think I’m acknowledging this super late but nevertheless, I am really grateful!

Your advice to other bloggers is so perminent. Often times we want to put out our thoughts into the world but are very quick to let others dictate how confident we are about them. It’s very important for us bloggers to know that the only thing that validates and deems our thoughts worthy is our own faith in them!

I hope you keep on posting for a long long time!
